Girl Scout Juniors Adrianna, Genesis, Jada, Olivia, and Sonya of Troop 216 recently earned their Bronze Awards by completing a service project they titled, "Kits for Kids." To earn their Bronze Awards, the Girl Scouts filled tote bags with childrens' toys and activities and donated them to children experiencing inpatient stays at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.
Troop Leader LeQuanda Moore said the girls wanted to make a difference where they felt like it was needed, "They decided they wanted to help keep kids entertained while they are in the hospital so they researched children's hospitals and how long kids stay in the hospital. They decided to make kits with coloring books, sensory toys, and so much more to keep a smile on the kids' faces. They made a list of hospital-approved toys and crafts. Next, they split the list and hit the store purchasing over $400 worth of toys and crafts. They sorted and bagged 65 reusable tote bags. Finally, they contacted the hospital to set up a drop-off time and delivered the 65 totes."
Once completed, the troop donated the bags to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters Main Hospital located at 601 Children's Lane in Norfolk, VA. Congratulations, Troop 216, and thank you for making the world a better place!
