Throwback Thursday- A Look Back at the 2010 Cookie Program

The 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Program is almost here! Today we are sharing a "Throwback Thursday", taking a look back at the 2010 Girl Scout Cookie Program, more than a decade ago! It was a good year for cookie rallies and out-of-the box thinking. That was the year Little Brownie Bakers chose the panda as the Cookie Program mascot and cookie rallies were animal themed!

Norfolk
Kathy Bennett, a volunteer who was recognized with the Dorothy Barber Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously last spring, loved planning and hosting cookie rallies.  She got her entire troop of Girl Scout Seniors involved and that included Girl Scout Melissa Rowe who had joined Kathy's troop when she was a Brownie. Thanks to Kathy, Melissa, who has Down syndrome, earned the highest award in Girl Scouts - the Gold Award! After earning the award and completing high school, Melissa became a troop volunteer and assisted Kathy for many years.

Girls from the Aragona service unit had fun moving to music and doing the Macarena dance. The cookie that inspired them - Dulce De Leche, a sweet, bite-sized cookie rich with milk caramel chips that was around until 2014.

Peninsula
Our top cookie CEO at the time, Ashliegh Peterson, went to Richmond and was introduced during the legislative session and spoke to women legislators like Delegate Roslyn Tyler.

We had a photo contest called, Cookie Quest. We had cookies popping up everywhere in Hampton Roads!
